GIAC currently provides a certification-renewal route based on earning 36 CPEs during the four-year certification period, with activity-specific caps and documentation rules that matter in addition to the total.
The 36-CPE total is only the first layer
GIAC renewal uses activity-specific CPE categories and caps. A useful tracker records the activity type, date, CPE amount, evidence, and category cap—not only the running total.
Spread work across the four-year period
A four-year certification period gives more room than a last-minute renewal sprint. Use the remaining-CPE and pace tools to create an earlier personal finish date.
Verify the activity category before counting it
Work experience, training, publishing, certifications and other activities can have different limits. Use GIAC’s current renewal instructions for the category that matches the evidence you hold.
