Research & Calculation Methodology

How we separate stable mathematics from changing credential rules, verify requirements, label assumptions, and keep calculators auditable.

Reviewed 9 August 2026

Stable calculations and changing requirements are stored separately so a formula can remain correct without making an old credential rule look current.

Research hierarchy

We prefer issuing authorities, licensing boards, formal standards, and official maintenance handbooks. Third-party matrices are used as navigation aids when they are transparent and current, with a direct-board verification warning.

Calculation rules

Tools clamp negative “remaining” values to zero, preserve mandatory subcategories, label date estimates as estimates, and avoid converting credit systems as if acceptance were universal.

Freshness

Source-backed pages show a verification date. A date indicates when we checked the cited source; it does not guarantee that a regulator has not changed a rule afterward.
