Cisco states that recertification requirements must be completed by the certification expiration date. If the certification has expired, the normal active-certification recertification routes no longer apply and the full exam process is required again.
Expiration is a hard planning boundary
Do not treat the expiration date as the start of a normal grace period. Cisco’s current policy says it does not provide recertification extensions.
Before expiration, more options exist
While active, a certification can be renewed through the qualifying routes Cisco lists for that level, including CE and exam-based options.
If already expired
Use the current Cisco certification page for the exact exam path needed to regain active status, because exam names and certification structures can change.
