Does the credential expire?
Yes. SHRM describes a three-year recertification cycle, followed by a 60-day grace period if recertification is not completed by the cycle end date. If the process is still incomplete at the end of the grace period, the certification can be revoked.
How the PDC route works
Earn qualifying PDCs during the cycle, enter them in the SHRM certification portal, review the completed record, submit the recertification application, and pay the applicable processing fee.
Why your cycle dates matter
SHRM says the cycle starts when you pass the exam and ends three years later on the last day of your birth month. Use the portal’s actual dates rather than calculating from memory.
