Get the required total from your board

NASBA/AICPA CPE program Standards and state CPA license rules are not the same thing. Use your licensing board for the cycle total, reporting period, ethics rule, carryover, subject limits, and provider requirements.

Subtract eligible hours only

Do not count a course merely because a provider labels it CPE. Confirm that the activity, subject, delivery method, date, sponsor/provider, and documentation fit your jurisdiction.

Track ethics separately

If your jurisdiction has an ethics or jurisdiction-specific requirement, keep that as a separate field. Reaching the overall CPE total does not necessarily mean the cycle is complete.
